Message from the Director
Florida’s biotechnology industry is poised to change from a research and development industry to a high growth manufacturing-based industry. New statewide initiatives are being implemented to expand Florida’s biotechnology industry. The establishment of Scripps Florida, the Burnham Institute, and the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, along with creation of new companies and the UF Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology (CERHB), are some of the catalysts of this growth. With this expansion is the need to fill technical positions with trained and qualified workers. To meet this challenge, the new CERHB Biotechnology Education Center offers computer-based and hands-on courses in Industrial Biotechnology to prepare students and professionals throughout Florida for careers in this exciting field.
